    A candidate must obtain a nomination from a U.S. Senator or Repre-
    sentative to be considered for an appointment, U.S. citizen, 17 to 25 
    years old, male or female, good moral character, physical aptitude, 
    academically qualified. You must meet the physical, security and
    character requirements necessary for appointment as U.S. Naval Reserve,
    Merchant Marine Reserve midshipmen.

    Take the SAT and/or the ACT no later than the first test date of the
    year in which you are seeking admission.

    Graduate from an accredited high school or its equivalent, earning at
    least 16 units of credit in the following:
            Credit Units (minimum)
    English     4
    Math        3 (Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry)
    Physics or
    Chemistry   1 (with a laboratory)

    We strongly recommend that you take:  Mathematics 4 years (to include 
    Pre-calculus), Physics and Chemistry.  Courses in Mechanical Drawing
    and Machine Shop are also desirable.

    Write to the Admissions Office for detailed information on the 
    nomination procedure.  It is advisable to apply for a nomination
    during the spring of the junior year in high school.

    Candidates must also apply to the Academy and request an Admissions 
    Application.  Applications may also be initiated on-line through the 
    Academy's website: www.usmma.edu.
