    Scholarships are awarded to qualified students with moderate to pro- 
    found hearing loss to continue their education on undergraduate and 
    graduate levels.  Students must demonstrate a serious commitment to
    academic and career excellence.  All fields of study are welcome.

    Eligibility requirements include:  Applicants must be identified as
    having a moderate to profound hearing loss.  Applicants with cochlear
    implants meet this criteria.  Applicants with unilateral hearing loss
    are not eligible.

    Applicants must also use speech and residual hearing and/or
    speechreading (lipreading) as their primary and preferred mode of
    communication.
