The Knights of Columbus provides Francis P. Matthews and John E. Swift
Educational Trust Scholarships to:
1. Children of a member in good standing who, while serving in
the military forces of his country in a combat zone,
specifically designated as such by the Board of Directors, is
killed by hostile action or wounded by hostile action
resulting within two years thereof in permanent and total
disability. An application must be filed within two years of
the death or determination of total and permanent disability
of the member.
2. Children of a member in good standing who, while in the lawful
performance of his duties as a full-time law enforcement
officer or full-time firefighter, died as the result of
criminal violence directed at him. An application must be
filed within two years of the date of the death of the member.
The scholarship is for undergraduate studies leading to a bachelor's
degree at a Catholic college and includes net expenses for tuition up
to a maximum of $25,000 per year, less the amount from any other grant
or scholarship.
A candidate for benefits is required to submit supporting documents
to establish eligibility. The Knights of Columbus membership record
is verified at the Supreme Council office.
