State DAR Organizations and local DAR Chapters have their own scholar-
ship programs. For information, interested students should contact
the State Chairman of the Scholarship Committee in the state where the
student resides. The name and address of the State Chairman should be
available through local DAR contacts or the Office of the Committees
at the above address.
Listed below you will find scholarships awarded annually by the
National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. (Other scholar-
ships given by the DAR are listed by varying deadline dates elsewhere
in this Compendium.)
General Information: (Exceptions are noted under each scholarship.)
All applicants must be U.S. citizens and plan to attend an accredited
college or university in the United States. ALL REQUESTS FOR
INFORMATION MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A SELF-ADDRESSED, STAMPED ENVELOPE.
Dr. Aura-Lee A. and James Hobbs Pittenger American History Scholarship
- awarded to graduating high school seniors who will be majoring in
American History or American Government. Award is in the amount of
$2,000 each year for up to four years with annual transcript review
required for renewal. American History Scholarships are first judged
at the state level and must be received by the National Chairman by
February 15.
Lillian and Arthur Dunn Scholarship - awarded to graduating high
school seniors whose MOTHERS are current members of NSDAR (no other
relationship qualifies) in the amount of $2,000 each year for up to
four years with annual transcript review required for renewal. Out-
standing students may apply for an additional four years as needed
for continuing study.
Deadline: February 15
The DAR also awards scholarships not listed in this book for upper
